A diverse array of topics are covered at the many museums in Prague and these include everything from military and Jewish themes, to music and famous Czech resident Franz Kafka, who was born in the city in the year of 1883. Prague is home to no less than two wax museums, both of which appeal to all ages.

The Prague Wax Museum (Prazske Panoptikum) can be found along the Narodni Trida and contains many models of famous and cultural figures from the historic past of the Czech Republic, while the Wax Museum Prague on the Melantrichova offers a similar mixture of characters, together with international celebrities, such as Picasso and John Paul II.




Other popular highlights include the Toy Museum and its enormous collection of dolls, games and teddy bears from the past 150 years, the Museum of Communism and its historical information about the Soviet Union, and the rather gruesome Museum of Medieval Torture Instruments, where rather graphic images show how some of the rather macabre instruments on display were once used.
